Cluster
Meetings
Cluster
meetings provide an interactive and educational forum for Communities
In Charge project
leaders to come together to explore a single topic
in depth. The communities select the topic to be
discussed based on its relevance to the design and
implementation of a coverage program for the
uninsured.
The following documents summarize the findings from each Communities
In Charge
cluster meeting that has been held to date:

Bringing Business to the Table:
Leveraging Business Assets to Expand Health Care Coverage
Non-profit organizations
typically do not have the same level of business acumen, political
leverage, and capital resources as the private sector. Organizations
or programs seeking to promote health coverage can access needed
resources by developing innovative partnerships with the business
community. The cluster meeting summary highlights comments
from leaders of the business and non-profit sectors on the value of engaging
the business community, the business perspective and the basic steps
for initiating a business partnership.

Cover
the Uninsured Week and Beyond: Developing Effective CIC Communications
Strategies
The
Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) is working to advance the
debate on the issue of the uninsured. During the week of March
10-16, 2003, RWJF and some of the most influential organizations in
the country will cosponsor Cover the Uninsured Week, a weeklong
series of national and local activities designed to raise awareness
about the issue of the uninsured. The Communities in Charge
(CIC) cluster meeting, "Cover the Uninsured Week and
Beyond..." was an opportunity for the CIC communities to learn
about partnering with The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation around
Cover the Uninsured Week (CTUW) and use CTUW as a platform for
advancing their own local/community-based health financing and
delivery initiatives.

Fun!
Games! Prizes!* (Business Planning) On
June 5 and 6, 2003, Communities in Charge (CIC) project
directors and community leaders convened in Rosemont, Illinois for
the CIC cluster meeting, "Fun! Games! Prizes! (i.e.,
Business Planning)." The purpose of the final cluster
meeting was to build the case for business planning and, through the
communities' presentations, understand how and when the business
planning process can be of value. The communities were
encouraged to share insights from their individual business planning
processes and use their collective learnings and/or experiences to
problem-solve around selected topics.
